About Us

The Manhattan Jewish Congregation is a unique Jewish community. We are the only organized Jewish Congregation in the city. We work closely with the Jewish military personnel of Fort Riley and with the B'nai Brith Hillel of Kansas State University to provide services and activities for Jews in our area. Our membership reaches as far as Salina, Kansas - 70 miles to the west.

Numbering about 35 families plus many individuals, we are a completely "lay-led" congregation. We reach out to Topeka, Wichita, and Kansas City on occasion for special Rabbinical services such as weddings and funerals. However, we conduct all of our own Shabbat, Holiday and special worship services. We prepare our children for Bar/Bat Mitzvah and other life-cycle events.

We have a reputation for doing our best to incorporate the traditions and rich backgrounds of the great variety of people who participate. We are very proud of our tradition.

Anyone may become a member of the congregation. If you wish to contribute dues as a member, please read this letter from our treasurer and fill out the attached form accordingly. Please note that dues are optional but important to the congregation and may be contributed at any level. Your dues contribution is kept completely confidential by the treasurer.
