ServicesShabbat Services are conducted every Friday evening starting at 7:30 In keeping with our tradition, services are led by volunteers from the Congregation. We use the New Union Prayer Book Gates of Prayer, however, it is up to the leader of the evening to plan his/her service. Other prayer books are available in the library and leaders are encouraged to conduct the service in their own style. All members and guests are welcome at these services. Services each week include Kiddush and and Oneg Shabbat also provided by volunteers. The second Friday of each month is a combination potluck dinner/service. People are encouraged to bring a dish to share and then stay for services afterwards. These special nights start at 6:00 pm. High Holy Day and Festival Services are also conducted by members. The Ritual Committee plans the High Holy Day services and involves anyone interested in participating in the leadership of the many services during these important days. Torah readings and sermons are always part of these observances. Festival services are often provided by volunteers in conjunction with the congregation's celebration of the day. As always, the leaders are encouraged to share their own rich traditions during these meaningful days. Life Cycle Celebrations such as Baby Naming, Brit, Consecration, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, etc. are major events in our small Congregation. We all take great pride and participate in these events. We are a family that takes great joy in the passages of our children through Jewish Life. Other worship opportunities are limited only by the interest of members. Creative services, Saturday morning worship, Havdalah, and others are incorporated from time to time. One of the unique qualities of our Congregation is its openness to include the ideas, traditions, skills, and participation of its members. |
Want to help lead services? Want to lead a special service? Got something special coming up that you want to commemorate in a service? Contact the ritual committee. We're always looking for volunteers. |
